The 1st and 2nd Version Palitoy Tressy Mechanism
This Tressy mechanism comes in three main parts: a front piece with a spring attached and a back cog. There was also a tiny piece of plastic pushed into the front piece to help keep the string in place.
Does your Palitoy Tressy rattle? Inside the doll her hair extension was secured with a plastic plug, as shown to the left. Over time this plug can loosen and come away, hence the rattle. When this happens I always secure my Tressy's hair with strong cord to replace the plug as can be seen in picture below.
Although the 1st and 2nd Palitoy Tressy's mechanism comes away quite easily you do have to be very gentle as it is easy to damage it.
3rd and 4th Version Palitoy Tressy Mechanism
You cannot take apart versions 3 and 4 as they are glued in.
Tressy Hair Styles
Tressy always came with a booklet showing how her hair extension worked. This booklet also had hair styling ideas for you to try out on your doll.
Apologies for some of my attempts, I found her hair very difficult to work with.
